Terms of Service

Terms and conditions governing the use of our website and the engagement of Master Door and Crown services.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Master Door and Crown website at masterdoorandcrown.com and any services provided by Master Door and Crown ("we," "us," or "our"), a sole proprietorship operating in Ventura County, California. By using our website or engaging our services, you agree to these Terms.

1. Nature of Services

Master Door and Crown provides custom residential woodworking services including, but not limited to:

  • Custom entry and front door fabrication and installation
  • Custom interior door fabrication and installation
  • Barn door and sliding door fabrication and installation
  • Crown moulding, door casing, and trim installation

All services are custom, residential, and quote-based. Every project is unique. No standard pricing exists for custom work, as each door is built to specific dimensions, wood species, design specifications, and installation requirements. Pricing is determined on a per-project basis following an in-home consultation.

2. Estimate Requests

Submitting an estimate request through our website does not create a contract or obligation on either party. An estimate request is an expression of interest and initiates a conversation. No work will begin, and no fees will be incurred, until a written project agreement is signed by both parties.

Estimates provided during initial consultations are preliminary and subject to change based on final measurements, material costs at time of order, and scope changes requested by the client.

3. Project Timelines

We do not make binding representations about project timelines until a written project agreement is signed. Custom woodwork timelines depend on material availability, shop schedule, and project complexity. Typical lead times for custom door fabrication range from 8 to 16 weeks from signed agreement and deposit receipt, but this is an estimate only and not a guarantee.

We will communicate proactively about any delays and work to accommodate client timelines to the best of our ability. We are not liable for delays caused by material shortages, weather, or circumstances outside our control.

4. Contractor Licensing and California Law

Master Door and Crown works in collaboration with licensed general contractors and specialty contractors where California law requires it. California's contractor licensing requirements under the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) vary based on project type, scope, and total contract value.

We are transparent with every client about the applicable licensing requirements for their specific project from the outset of our relationship. Clients will always know who is responsible for each aspect of their project and under what license the work is performed. We do not perform work requiring licensure outside the scope of applicable law.

5. Client Responsibilities

Clients are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate information about the project, existing conditions, and desired outcomes
  • Granting reasonable access to the property for consultation, measurement, and installation
  • Reviewing and approving project specifications before fabrication begins
  • Reviewing and signing any required permit applications where applicable
  • Following provided care and maintenance instructions for finished woodwork

6. Payment Terms

Specific payment terms, including deposit amounts and payment schedules, are established in the written project agreement for each job. Generally, a deposit is required before material procurement and fabrication begins. Remaining balances are due upon project completion unless otherwise agreed in writing.

We accept payment by check, cash, and electronic transfer. Payment terms are non-negotiable once agreed upon in the project agreement.

7. Warranty

We stand behind our workmanship. Specific warranty terms — including duration and scope — are provided in the written project agreement for each job. In general, we warrant our fabrication and installation work against defects in workmanship for a period stated in the agreement. Warranty does not cover:

  • Normal wear and weathering of exterior wood surfaces
  • Damage caused by improper maintenance or failure to follow care instructions
  • Damage caused by events outside our control (impact, flooding, structural movement)
  • Client-directed design choices that affect performance

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by California law, Master Door and Crown's liability for any claim arising from our services is limited to the amount paid by the client for the specific service giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for consequential, incidental, or punitive damages.

9. Dispute Resolution

We are committed to resolving any disputes directly and in good faith. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it will be submitted to binding arbitration in Ventura County, California, in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. The prevailing party may be entitled to recover reasonable attorney's fees.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any legal action arising from these Terms shall be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction in Ventura County, California.

11. Website Use

The content on this website — including text, images, and design — is the property of Master Door and Crown. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use website content without our written permission. The website is provided for informational purposes only and does not constitute a binding offer or guarantee of service availability.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated terms will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of our website or services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
