Custom Interior Doors

Hollow-core builder-grade doors do the job, but they don't do anything for a room. A solid wood interior door changes the acoustic quality, the visual weight, and the sense of craftsmanship throughout your home.

Solid Wood Interior Doors for Every Room

We handle complete interior door packages for whole-home renovations and single replacement doors for one room. Either way, the approach is the same: we measure every opening, establish a consistent panel profile and wood species, and build a set of doors that reads as a unified design language throughout the house — rather than a collection of close-but-not-quite matches.

Wood species choice depends on whether the doors will be painted or stained. For paint-grade work, poplar and soft maple are ideal — they have a tight, consistent grain that accepts paint smoothly and won't telegraph figure through a finished surface. For stain-grade doors, oak, walnut, and cherry each bring a distinct character. We'll show you samples in your actual space, under your lighting conditions, before anything is finalized.

Panel configurations include 2-panel, 3-panel, 5-panel, and flush. Traditional and craftsman homes typically call for 2 or 5 panel arrangements with square or ogee sticking. Contemporary homes often look better with flat-panel or flush profiles. French door sets — glass-paned pairs that pass light between rooms — are a common request for offices, libraries, and dining rooms that benefit from visual connection without sacrificing sound control.

We build prehung and slab depending on what your project requires. Slab-only is appropriate when the existing frame is in good condition and the rough opening is square and correctly sized. Prehung — door pre-assembled into a new frame — is the right call for renovations where the existing frame is worn, damaged, or undersized. We make that call after we've seen the opening in person.

What Sets Solid Wood Apart

  • Solid wood deadens sound better than hollow-core. The mass difference between a solid wood door and a hollow-core door is significant. In bedrooms, offices, and bathrooms, that mass translates directly into better acoustic separation — a noticeable upgrade in day-to-day comfort.
  • Built to your exact opening — no planing, no shimming. Stock slab doors come in standard widths. If your rough opening doesn't match, the options are shimming the frame (which affects the reveal) or planing the door (which removes the factory finish edge). Custom doors are dimensioned to your actual opening from the start.
  • Consistent design language across a whole-home package. When every door in a home is built to the same profile, same species, and same finish, the result is a level of interior coherence that upgraded fixtures and paint alone can't achieve. We build the whole package or a single door — but we always think about how it fits the whole.

The Build Process

From consultation to installation, here's how every interior door project unfolds.

01

Consultation

We visit your home, measure the openings, and discuss your style goals and wood preferences. For whole-home packages, we assess every door location and identify any non-standard sizes.

02

Design

We sketch the door design, confirm dimensions, and finalize the wood species and finish. For multi-door packages, we establish a single consistent profile and present samples before any lumber is ordered.

03

Build

Your doors are built from raw lumber in our shop using mortise-and-tenon joinery and precision milling. Each door is fitted and checked square before finishing.

04

Finish

Stain, paint, or clear-coat applied in multiple coats with sanding between each. Interior doors receive finish appropriate for high-touch surfaces — durable, cleanable, and consistent across every door in a package.

05

Install

We deliver and install every door, hang and adjust hardware, and verify that each door swings and latches correctly. We coordinate trim installation if needed to complete the look.
